TĀ MĀTOU MOEMOEĀ - Our Vision

Papa tākaro hei oranga whānau

Our vision is for Māori to thrive through sport, enhancing hauora and oranga. Through a by Māori, for Māori approach, Te Huinga Tākaro champions Māori pathways for participation, achievement and leadership. We seek equitable access to opportunities and funding, the removal of barriers, and Māori influence in sporting decisions. We celebrate Māori culture as a superpower of sport and its unique contribution to whānau, hapū and iwi wellbeing and the sporting identity of Aotearoa.

Our tohu reflects our journey to transform Māori health and wellbeing through sport. Its green and blue represent whenua and wai—the hononga and kaitiakitanga responsibilities to land and water where sports is played, and our role of service to the Māori National Sport Organisations.

The three pou of the Poutama acknowledge and remind us of our past, meet challenges and celebrate achievements of the present and form a strong foundation for a future of cultural vitality and prosperity.
